The Karlsruhe Anniversary
Devised by Anselm Lingnau, Frankfurt, Germany, February 1997
This dance celebrates the Karlsruhe Scottish country dance group's tenth anniversary.
It was commissioned by Uschi Henco, who was the Karlsruhe group's teacher
and the namesake of this dance's original tune.

Description |
1-8 | 1st and 3rd couples set and cross over giving right hands. They cast off (2nd and 4th couples step up) and turn with the left hand three quarters to finish facing first corners. |
9-12 | 1st and 3rd couples dance a right-shoulder loop round first corners. Meanwhile, 1st corners (2nd man and 4th woman, 4th man and 5th woman, respectively) turn once round giving right hands. (NB. As in ``corners pass and turn'', corners should use one step to meet in the middle, one step to turn and two steps to dance out to places.) |
13-16 | 1st and 3rd couples turn partners with the left hand just over one and a quarter times to finish facing second corners. |
17-20 | 1st and 3rd couples dance a right-shoulder loop round second corners. Meanwhile, second corners (2nd woman and 4th man, 4th woman and 5th man, respectively) turn once round giving right hands. |
21-24 | 1st and 3rd couples turn partners with the left hand one and three quarter times to finish in a line of four down the middle of the set, with the women (facing the men's side) above their partners (facing the women's side). |
25-28 | 1st woman dances right hands across with 2nd couple while 1st man and 3rd woman dance right hands across with 4th couple and 3rd man dances right hands across with 5th couple. |
29-32 | 1st
and 3rd couples turn with the left hand and cast off on own sides. 4th
and 5th couples step up on 31-32. Finish in the order 2, 4, 1, 5, 3. Repeat the dance with a new top couple. |
